For the very first time, Prince’s super hit-songs such as ‘When Doves Cry, Kiss, Diamonds and Pearls, Sign O’ The Times and Purple Rain, amongst others, will be re-imagined through new compositions and performed by a world-class band. Selected songs will fuse together these classic songs with live music from international musicians, playing steel-pan, violin, cello, Indian-flute, veena, tabla and the Japanese harp.
This large-scale show will also feature a range of dancers from contemporary to traditional Irish folk and Bhangra. Powerful soul singer, Rachel Modest, from ITV’s the VOICE will be joined by BBC’s young folk award winner Maddie Morris and soul-singer Lisanse Changwe.
Interspersed with elements of oral histories from fans and specially commissioned film visuals, this highly original one-off event will take place on Sunday 6th August, at 7:30pm at the Lawrence Batley Theatre. Set to be a night to remember and true celebration of culture and creativity to honour the legacy of the one and only, Prince.
