I am so excited to announce my next big event:
Suzy Homemaker
Suzy Homemaker is my own self-made dance theatre production that has been Arts Council Funded three times. All being well, it will embark on a National tour this year. This is the first and only time I am opening up the characters to be photographed in an event setting. To make things even better, we will have some of the set pieces from the show!
The show follows 3 women between 1903-1950 trapped in roles they did not ask for. How the shoot will work:
Group 1 is inspired by the character, Susannah, an Edwardian socialite in 1903.
A young lady entering “society” for the first time, she is promenaded in front of suitors – but as an educated woman, she realises she’s just being sold like cattle, and dreams of more when discovering the Suffragette movement.
10.30am-12.30pm
Group 2 is inspired by the character, Ms. S. A Burlesque performer from the late 20s/early 30s.
With political turmoil and rowdy clientele around her, she questions who she is performing for: her independence or the male gaze?
1-3pm
Group 3 is inspired by the character, Suzy, a 1950s housewife.
Suzy is quite strange, but looks like the “perfect wife” to the outside world. She is neat, prim, and makes an excellent Victoria sponge, but with a madness to her that you can’t help but both be disturbed by and pity.
3.30-5.30pm
As always with my events you can expect excellent organisation, plenty of shoot time and great styling. I will be using the custom wigs and costumes made for the show. No expense spared. Our assistant will be the amazing Elly Welford. Elly is well renowned UK photographer.
